Storage Guidelines
High-voltage battery
CAUTION: At no time should the high-voltage battery be allowed to discharge below 6% State of Charge (SOC). Doing so could have a negative impact to the efficiency and service life of the high-voltage battery.
The high-voltage battery discharges over time if not properly maintained while in storage. The easiest way to maintain it is to keep the vehicle connected to a charging location throughout storage. See Charging the Vehicle.
Using the Central Touchscreen to set a minimum charge level during storage can help to maintain overall battery health. See Setting Battery Saver.
If charging is not available at the storage location, Fisker strongly recommends to first charge the high-voltage battery to a minimum of 10% SoC per month of storage. Check the SoC at least once per month to ensure it remains above 6% SoC, and charge the vehicle as needed. For example, if the vehicle is being stored for three months, the high-voltage battery should be charged to 30% SoC or higher.
12V battery
The 12V battery gradually discharges over time. The high-voltage system maintains the 12V battery’s charge level, but this in turn is a drain on the high-voltage battery’s SoC.
To maintain the 12V battery’s charge level and reduce the power demand on the high-voltage system, a trickle charger can be connected to the 12V battery during storage. See Connecting a trickle charger.
Tires
To minimize the possibility and effects of flat spots during storage, the tires may be inflated to the maximum pressure indicated on the tire wall. See Maintaining Tire Pressures.
WARNING: The tire pressures must be reduced to the correct pressure before the vehicle is driven.
Additional storage guidelines
While not required, Fisker recommends taking these additional steps to protect your vehicle’s overall condition while in storage:
-
Wash the exterior thoroughly. See Cleaning the Exterior. Particles or grease left on the paint surfaces can leave marks, become embedded, or speed up corrosion.
-
Clean, dust, and vacuum the interior. See Cleaning the Interior. Check all storage spaces and remove any perishable items.
-
If the storage location’s ambient temperature will remain below 100°F (38°C), you can install a car cover to help protect your vehicle’s exterior.
CAUTION: Do not use a car cover when ambient temperatures are above 100°F (38°C).
