12V Battery
12V Battery
WARNING: The correct and safe operation of driver assistance and vehicle autonomy features is dependent on the 12V battery. It is critical that the 12V battery in the vehicle is replaced ONLY with identical parts or parts which are authorized by Fisker. Failure to do so could put safety of the vehicle and occupants at risk.
CAUTION: Your vehicle is equipped with a 12V battery. Due to the location of the battery, it is recommended that replacement of the battery is only carried out by Fisker.
Your vehicle has a high-voltage to low-voltage energy transfer feature that keeps the 12V battery charged by the high-voltage battery. If the 12V battery level is low, the high-voltage battery transfers energy to the 12V battery.
Connecting a trickle charger
WARNING: Always wear protective eyewear and gloves when working with the 12V battery. The 12V battery in your vehicle is a lead-acid battery, which contains electrolyte. The electrolyte contains sulfuric acid, which can burn skin. If skin comes into contact with electrolyte, wash and flush the area with water immediately. If electrolyte comes into contact with the eyes, immediately flush them with water for 15 minutes and seek medical attention.
WARNING: The 12V battery in your vehicle is a lead-acid battery, which can emit explosive gases when charged. Protect the battery from sparks and flame, and provide adequate ventilation.
CAUTION: When connecting to the 12V battery, always attach red connectors to the positive (+) battery terminal and black connectors to the negative (–) battery terminal. Reversing the polarity can cause significant damage to the battery.
CAUTION: To avoid any short circuits when connecting a trickle charger, make sure that:
-
The charger clips are fully isolated.
-
The isolation is fully intact.
-
The charger clips are small enough to fit into the space available.
If needed, it is possible to connect a trickle charger to the 12V battery.
-
Open the hood. See Opening the hood.
-
Flip open the access cover to the positive terminal by pulling up on the tab.
-
The positive terminal (+) and negative terminal (-) are illustrated above.
