Using Drive Control
Using Drive Control
WARNING: Drive Control is designed for your driving comfort and convenience. It is your responsibility to stay alert, drive safely, and be in control of the vehicle at all times. Watch the road in front of you and be prepared to take corrective action at all times. Failure to do so can result in serious injury or death.
WARNING: Do not use Drive Control on city streets or on roads where traffic conditions are constantly changing.
WARNING: Do not use Drive Control on winding roads, on icy or slippery road surfaces, or when weather conditions (e.g., heavy rain, snow, or fog) make it inappropriate to drive at a consistent speed.
Drive Control allows you to maintain a set speed between 15 and 110 mph (20 and 190 km/h) without keeping your foot on the accelerator pedal.
Drive Control should be used for cruising on straight, open highways.
Drive Control indicator
When Drive Control is enabled, a blue indicator (telltale) illuminates on the Driver Display, with the current set speed listed beneath it.
Enabling Drive Control
-
Press the Drive Control switch on the steering wheel. See Steering Wheel Controls.
-
Accelerate to the desired cruising speed above 15 mph (20 km/h).
-
Press and release the right steering wheel dial to set the cruising speed. The Drive Control indicator illuminates on the Driver Display to show the system is activated.
Minimum speed: 15 mph (20 km/h).
Maximum speed: 110 mph (190 km/h).
Note: Drive Control may not hold the set speed when you are going down hills. If your speed increases going down a hill, use the brakes to slow down. This cancels Drive Control. To resume the set speed, press the Drive Control switch on the steering wheel. The indicator on the Driver Display illuminates again.
Changing the set speed
You can change the current set speed using one of the following methods:
-
Scroll up/down on the right steering wheel dial to increase/decrease the set speed, which adjusts accordingly beneath the Drive Control indicator.
-
Press the accelerator pedal until you reach the new desired speed, then press the right steering wheel dial to set the new speed.
Canceling and resuming cruising
To cancel Drive Control, press the Drive Control switch on the steering wheel.
The system can also be canceled by tapping the brake pedal if it is safe to do so in the current traffic conditions.
After Drive Control has been canceled, you can resume the previous set speed by pressing the Drive Control switch.
Note: Once the vehicle is powered Off, the Drive Control system does not save the previously-set speed. It must be set again during the next driving cycle.
